Text Box: Leave Torry Mountain Furnace and climb to the top of the ridge where the Mills Creek Trail intersects. Turn right and descend the back side of the ridge to a creek crossing. Cross the stream  and follow an old fire road to another creek crossing with a small parking area at the end of a dirt road. Bear left, and follow the creek up a hollow for approx. 1 mile to another creek crossing. Take the first intersecting trail to the right and follow the stream down to Mills Creek Reservoir. A rough trail goes around the left side of the lake to the dam. Another 1 1/4 miles on the gravel road brings you back to the Coal Road with the parking area on the left.

Take Interstate 64E to Exit 96 at the base of the mountains. Turn right on Rt. 624 and follow it through Lyndhurst and Sherando. After entering the George Washington National Forest, look for a small sign on the right designating the Coal Road, just before a gas station. Turn right on the Coal Road and go 1.6 miles to a small parking area on the left. Take a shuttle vehicle back to the main road, turn right, and go approx. 1 mile to Torry Mountain Furnace on the right. There is a small parking area and the trailhead begins just to the left of the furnace.
