Take Interstate 64 East to Exit 96 at the base of the mountains. Turn right on Rt. 624 and follow it through Lyndhurst, Sherando, past Sherando Lake, to the top of the mountain where it intersects the Blue Ridge Parkway. Turn left on the BRP and go north to Love Gap between milepost 16 and 15. There is a small field on the right with ample room to park. The gated fire road is easily identified.
Text Box: Leave Love Gap parking area and follow the fire road, with excellent views of the Three Ridges Mountains and east into the Piedmont. Itís an easy 1.5 miles to Maupin Fields Shelter, located within the Priest Wilderness, with itís large picnic and camping area. From the shelter follow the Appalachian Trail to the summit of Bee Mountain, with expansive views, or continue to The Three Ridges. The other option is to explore the Mau-Har Trail into the Campbell Creek Gorge. This rugged but beautiful hike follows the cascading stream through boulders and cliffs to eventually meet the Tye River.
